The Australian soap opera,  Home and Away, started airing in 1988 competing with Neighbours, another long running, all time popular Australian soap opera.

Neighbours actually started before Home and Away around 1985. Many of the now famous Hollywood actors and singers started in these two Australian soap operas. Isla Fisher is among those famous Hollywood actors who started in Home and Away.
